About the Favicon Generator
The Favicon Generator turns one image into the complete set of icons a website needs: 16, 32 and 48 pixel PNGs, a 180 pixel Apple touch icon, and a combined favicon.ico. The ZIP also contains an HTML snippet with the link tags to paste into your page.
Your image does not need to be square: the center square is used automatically. Your image is uploaded to our server only to process it. Uploads are deleted after processing, and results expire within 48 hours, so download what you need right away.
How to use it
- Upload a JPG, PNG or WebP image.
- Select Generate Favicon Set.
- Download the ZIP and copy the files into your site root.
- Paste the snippet from snippet.html into the head section of your pages.
Common uses
- Adding a tab icon to a new website or blog.
- Updating icons after a rebrand.
- Providing a home-screen icon for iPhone and iPad visitors.
Tips
- Simple, bold shapes stay recognizable at 16 pixels; fine detail and small text disappear.
- Start from an image at least 180 pixels wide for a sharp Apple touch icon.
- Browsers cache favicons aggressively, so a hard refresh may be needed to see the new one.
