URL and HTML Encoder
Encode or decode URLs and HTML entities entirely in your browser.
About the URL and HTML Encoder
This tool encodes and decodes two kinds of text. URL encoding replaces spaces and special characters with percent codes such as %20, so a value can travel safely inside a web address. HTML encoding turns characters like < and & into entities, so markup is shown as text instead of being run.
Everything runs in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing you type is uploaded to our server, so it is safe to use with private data.
How to use it
- Paste text, a URL component or HTML.
- Choose URL encode, URL decode, HTML encode or HTML decode.
- Copy the result.
Common uses
- Building a query string that contains spaces, & or = characters.
- Reading an encoded link from a log or email.
- Showing code examples on a web page.
Tips
- Encode individual parameter values, not the whole URL, or characters like : and / will be encoded too.
- If decoding fails, the input probably contains a broken percent sequence.
