Text Difference Checker
Compare two blocks of text line by line in your browser.
About the Text Difference Checker
The Text Difference Checker compares an original and a revised text line by line and marks each line as unchanged, removed or added.
It compares lines by their position, so it works best when the two versions have the same structure. If a line is inserted near the top, the lines after it will also be reported as changed. Everything runs in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing you type is uploaded to our server, so it is safe to use with private data.
How to use it
- Paste the original text on the left.
- Paste the revised text on the right.
- Select Compare lines and review the marked lines.
Common uses
- Checking what changed between two versions of a configuration file.
- Reviewing edits to a short piece of copy.
- Comparing two lists that should be identical.
Tips
- Trailing spaces count as changes; trim them if they are not important.
- For long documents with many insertions, a dedicated diff program gives a clearer picture.
