Indian Visa Photo: Size, Format and File Limit
The Indian visa portal publishes its image rules in an illustrated PDF. It has a floor as well as a ceiling: a file under 10 KB is refused just as one over 300 KB is, so squeezing a photo as hard as possible can fail too.
The portal only takes JPEG, and its guide shows the message "Only JPEG files can be uploaded" when you try anything else. This tool always writes a JPEG, whatever you start with.
| File format | JPEG |
|---|---|
| Pixel size | Height equal to width, from 350 × 350 to 1000 × 1000 |
| File size | Minimum 10 KB, maximum 300 KB |

These checks cover the file's technical limits only. They do not mean an authority will accept the photo or document.
What this tool cannot check
- The composition rules. The Indian mission in Islamabad lists a white background, no shadows, no borders, a full-face view with eyes open, and the head centered from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin. Check the guidance for your own application.
Passing these technical limits does not mean the application will be accepted. ToolkitHQ is not connected to any government.
