UK Passport Digital Photo: Do Not Crop or Edit It
Please do not run a UK passport photo through our tool, or any other photo editor. GOV.UK says the photo must be unaltered by computer software and tells you not to crop it, because the service does that itself.
The limits are also generous. A normal phone photo is usually already above 600 × 750 pixels and between 50 KB and 10 MB, so there is rarely anything to fix. If yours is smaller, retake it at full resolution instead of enlarging it.
| Pixel size | At least 600 wide and 750 tall |
|---|---|
| File size | At least 50 KB and no more than 10 MB |
| Editing | Unaltered by computer software |
| Cropping | Do not crop; GOV.UK says it will be done for you |

Check these yourself
- Include your head, shoulders and upper body if you take the photo on your own device.
- Use a plain, light-coloured background that contrasts with you, with nobody and nothing else in shot.
- The photo was taken within the past month.
For forms that do allow resizing, the Document Requirement Fixer can fit a file to custom limits.
